Enter and Work in Confined Spaces  

Confined Space and Civil Training emphasise practical and relevant water industry application for its confined space training.  Practical entry exercises are made into a 3.6 metre deep manhole training participants in the use of gas detectors, fall restraint equipment, self-contained and self-rescue breathing apparatus.

Course Outline

The Confined Space Entry course offered by Confined Space and Civil Training is designed to meet the criteria as set out in the Regulations and Standard and is targeted at the individual requirements of the workgroup.  The course is competency based on both theoretical and practical issues.

              

Course Content

The program consists of an initial induction course which includes CPR and covers the following topics:
  • ​Relevant legislation (Victorian Worksafe Regulations and Code of Compliance, AS 2865)
  • Hazard identification, types of gases
  • Entry permits, selection of appropriate safety equipment lockout procedures
  • Entry and exit procedures, lifelines, harnesses, winches, communication techniques
  • Gas detection equipment, electronic gas detection
  • Self-rescue breathing apparatus (eg. Oxyboks)
  • Breathing apparatus (eg. Airline, SCBA)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR and AED)
  • Emergency and rescue procedures
  • Practical exercise

​Course participants are issued with a Record of Training card with all the components of the course indicated on the card.  A record of this training is also maintained on the Confined Space and Civil Training database to enable monitoring of regular re-training programs.


                     

Course Venue

This course is conducted at the Confined Space and Civil Training Centre at Clayton.  It can also be conducted on site.

Course Duration

The induction course is held over two days.
​Refresher courses are also available, which are one day in duration and also include CPR.

Course Cost

Induction - $385 per person
​Refresher - $185 per person
