Provide First Aid
​(formerly Level 2 First Aid)


This course gives participants the knowledge and practical skills required to provide First Aid response, life support, management of the incident, casualty/s and other first aiders, in all ranges of situations, including in the home, workplace or in the community, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Course Outline

This course incorporates Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Provide Basic Emergency Life Support. 

​In line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, it is recommended first aid skills are renewed at least every three years and CPR skills renewed annually.

Course Content

  • ​Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescue CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin
  • Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescue CPR on an infant resuscitation manikin
  • Respond appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting
  • Manage an unconscious breathing casualty
  • Follow single rescue procedure, including the demonstration of a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compressions
  • Follow the prompts of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
  • Provide an accurate verbal or written incident/injury report
​Apply first aid procedures for the following:
  • ​allergic reaction
  • anaphylaxis
  • bleeding control, choking and airway obstruction
  • envenomation, using pressure immobilisation
  • fractures, sprains and strains, using arm slings, roller bandages or other appropriate immobilisation techniques
  • respiratory distress, including asthma
  • shock

​Course participants are issued with a Record of Training card with all the components of the course indicated on the card.  A record of this training is also maintained on the Confined Space and Civil Training database to enable monitoring of regular re-training programs.

 

Course Venue

This course is conducted at the Confined Space and Civil Training Centre at Clayton, or can be run at your workplace.​

Course Duration

This course is completed in one day.​
